PRESENTATION OF THEATRE DU PHARE

The company Théâtre du Phare carries the artistic projects of Olivier Letellier, crossing the art of storytelling with different disciplines (theater, object theater, photography, video, sound creation, dance, circus...), for all audiences. Openness, sharing and awareness are the pillars of his artistic approach. The story is an extremely important foundation: it is about stories that survive and enrich social prisms, and thus promote meeting and exchange. Each of Olivier Letellier's projects seeks to highlight the heart of what the story tells, with simplicity and clarity, so that the "young" audiences in their experience as a spectator can receive the show and feed themselves in their own way.

CURRENT CREATIONS

LA MECANIQUE DU HASARD

(show premiere October 2018)

Adapted from the novel HOLES by Louis Sachar, adapted by Catherine Verlaguet. Directed by Olivier Letellier. With Fiona Chauvin and Guillaume Fafiotte.

This incredible story of inter-generational transmission, driven at a frantic pace, takes us into the middle of the Texan desert to follow Stanley Yelnats, a teenager sent to a recovery camp to dig holes in the bottom of a dry lake. "If you take a bad boy and have him dig a hole in the sun every day, he will eventually become a nice boy."

But it is the family legacies he will dig up: the story of his horrible-abominable-rascal-great-great-grandfather who stole a pig from a one-legged gypsy who had taken revenge by casting him a bad spell. But also, the one of his father, inventor of genius, who strives to recycle old sneakers. Or even the one of his great-grandfather whose diligence was robbed by the dreaded "Embrasseuse".

A powerful story of friendship between teens against a background of hereditary legend. Parallel stories, a century apart, which are discovered strangely linked by indices cleverly distilled throughout the story.

The show will be on tour in 2018-2019.
